In 2040, time has become a hard currency that can be borrowed. If you use "future life" as collateral, you can borrow "past time" to correct errors. The protagonist is a debt collector - looking for those unlucky people who can't repay their "time debt". Do you think owing money is terrible? Being short of time is even scarier.
