The Constant Crisis

The world of materials expert Ander is silently cracking apart: his suit inexplicably comes apart at the seams, and experimental data drifts across the board. With divorce proceedings underway, a crisis at work now threatens his custody of his son. He suspects a supplier of foul play and investigates his wife's affair, but every effort leads into an even deeper fog. Then physicist Xu Cheng discovers tiny, inexplicable shifts in the constants of physics, shaking the foundations of reality itself. Ander suddenly remembers the strange dream he had forgotten: an empty control room, a string of numbers so long it took his breath away, and the final digit he changed with his own hand. He suddenly realizes that the workplace conspiracy and family war he thought he was caught up in may have been pointing him in entirely the wrong direction. The real battlefield lies deep within the laws that sustain all things. And the only way to save his son's future is, unbelievably, to first repair the world he himself has shattered.
