"Echoes of Gaia" · Author's preface
Many people regard science fiction as distant imagination. But for me, "Echoes of Gaia" is not fiction. It is a soul confession and survival fable that I wrote to myself and others during a particularly dark, lonely, and misunderstood day. I have encountered too many absurd judgments in reality: some people judge talents based on facial appearance, some people use horoscopes to determine choices, some people use crude rules to deny professionalism, and use short-sighted utilitarianism to dissolve ideals. During that time, I was like a person walking in the ruins. I clearly knew the direction, but was arbitrarily labeled as "out of place" by the world. I have seen too many forces that use harvesting as their purpose, order as an excuse, and elimination as fun. They don't care about individual value, don't respect humanistic logic, and only care about efficiency, control, and results. They are just like those cold reapers in the book. It was during that low point that made me write this book. I projected all the feelings of being suppressed, not seen, and disrespected in reality into this future world: human civilization is heading towards entropy due to fragmentation, involution, and plunder, and is judged by a higher will as an "unbalanced civilization that must be cleaned up." And the real salvation has never been stronger weapons or more fierce confrontation, but hearing the voices of the earth, life, and each other again - that is the echo of Gaia. So there was the Candle Dragon Project: not conquest, not subversion, but system repair, overall symbiosis, and civilization upgrading; So there was the Green Seeding Project: not the most powerful, but only those who can still empathize, are still willing to persevere, and can still hear the glimmer of light, and slowly awaken the whole world with the heart of fire. These two plans are not only the way for civilization to survive in science fiction, but also the way of life and career that I have always believed in in reality: Be a connector, not a tearer; Be an awakener, not a crusher; Believe in the glimmer of individuals, believe in the goodness of the system, believe that human nature is higher than utilitarianism, and believe that symbiosis will eventually win over robbery. The protagonist in the book is lonely, not understood, and often regarded as an alien, but he never gives up listening, connecting and repairing. That person is actually me. When I write about Gaia, about echoes, about harvest and redemption, about candle dragons and green seedlings, I am essentially confirming one thing: Even if the world is rough, the rules are absurd, and the road ahead is gloomy, people can still choose not to be harvested, not to be assimilated, and not to be swallowed up by entropy. True strength is not what you conquer, but what you can hold; The real hope lies not in heroes descended from the sky, but in every ordinary person who is unwilling to be numb, unwilling to go with the flow, and insists on being a "green seedling". This book is the light I wrote in the darkness. This is also my solemn response to myself, my peers, and all those who have been misunderstood but still persist: Your persistence is not wrong, your ideals are not naive, and your voice deserves to be heard. One day, every sincerity, every perseverance, and every original intention you send out will come back to you in the form of an echo. is the order.
