In 2749 AD, the fire of human civilization huddled in the "Rust Belt" on the edge of the Milky Way. The interstellar fleets that once traversed the galaxies were reduced to scavengers salvaging star debris. The evolutionary frenzy of gene locks tore apart the ethnic groups - the awakened ones were worshiped as "new gods", and the unevolved ones were reduced to "carbon-based ants". Ling Ye, a mechanic from the slums, accidentally found a "deed chip" engraved with ancient earth characters. The chip contains the ultimate secret of human civilization millions of years ago: an "entropy tide" that could swallow up the entire universe is approaching, and the key to unlocking salvation is actually hidden in the "carbon basic source" spurned by evolvers. When the Evolver's fleet destroyed the scavenger settlement, and when the iron law of the Interstellar Council crushed the last bit of humanity, Ling Ye and a group of exiled "ants" drove a patchwork of mechas and embarked on an expedition across the stars.
