The Supernatural Phenomena Convention

In the mid-nineteenth century, beside the bronze clepsydra at the Imperial Astronomical Bureau, a newly installed telegraph clicked and clattered. Electric signals traveled into the distance through telephone wires coiled around the eaves, passing over a storyteller in a teahouse below, a newsboy on a street corner, and a steam train leaving the outskirts of the city for somewhere far away.

At last, they drifted toward an invincible fleet in the depths of the ocean.

Farther still, electric lights had illuminated the streets of the continent west of Oruoxia. Airships silently swept through the storm layer, casting shadows like the spine of a giant beast over the city beneath the full moon.

This was an age of electric hums and still-warm steam, an age when the curtain was about to tear apart.

The old gods were dying from a lack of faith, while new deities were born from fear.

The shattered Southern Heavenly Gate flickered in and out of view amid the tides of aether. Beneath Guixu, the Outer Gods stirred as the Hume index fell.

But when Xu Yi opened his eyes in the mortal world,

the gods, steel, and stars

would all have to be redefined.
