Shining on the Court, A Brilliant Era

I dedicate this book to the youth that has passed, yet is not over, and still goes on. A man remains a boy until the day he dies.

If you reach a nostalgic part, post: “My youth is back.”

Playing good basketball is no easy thing…

But since I’ve been given another chance, and I don’t have polio this time, and my youth is back…

Lin Feng, username Ye Qinghui, pushes Dongguo forward, one step at a time. Don’t mess with me. I just want to play a good game of basketball.

The summer heat, the wind, the cicadas, the beautiful girls in class, and the days when we’d turn red in the face as we raised our arms and cheered.

The quarterfinals of the 1999 Shanchuan Province College Basketball League.

Beichuan University trails Xishan University.

Halftime.

Li Yunsi, Beichuan’s team manager: “Wang Heng, why are you crying?”

Wang Heng: “My dad… he died in the line of duty.”

“What?”

“There’s no war going on!”

“Could your dad be…?”

Everyone fell silent…

There really wasn’t a war, but yesterday, a US plane collided with one from Dongguo~

…

“Don’t worry. There’s no way he died,” Lin Feng said, patting Wang Heng on the shoulder.

“H-how do you know? It was on the news.” Feeling the weight of the hand on his shoulder, Wang Heng raised his head with difficulty and looked at Lin Feng, who rarely spoke.

“Because I want to play basketball, and I don’t want this kind of crap ruining everyone’s mood. Don’t worry, Hengzi.”

“After we win this game, I guarantee your dad will video call you, okay?”

“Really?!”

“Of course!”

“Then… then I believe you.” As if trying to comfort himself, Wang Heng smiled.
