After My Remonstrance Failed, I Became a Ghost of the Grand Canal

In the fifth year of Tianbao, An Lushan had not yet rebelled, and Du Fu had just passed the imperial examinations. Li Su, a poor scholar, was ordered by the chancellor Li Linfu to be drowned in the Wei River after submitting a memorial criticizing corruption in the grain transport system. When he opened his eyes again, he was a “drowned” corpse in Chang'an County, with a mysterious bronze talisman in his arms. The talisman could bridge yin and yang and reveal the spirits and gods, but each new and full moon, it had to be offered the blood of an enemy. Li Su watched the first name appear on the talisman: Li Linfu. He smiled and brushed waterweed from his blue robe. “Fine by me. Then I'll start with the Tang dynasty's grain transport system and dismantle your bones, one piece at a time.”
