Bind your conduct with precepts, moisten your heart with compassion, and contemplate with wisdom. The seven emotions are immortal, but they can be turned into boats and rafts to ferry people—— Family affection makes people warm, love makes people brave, friendship makes people firm, and compassion makes people noble. The six desires are difficult to eliminate, but they can be turned into spiritual resources—— The desire for survival can be turned into a driving force for advancement; the desire for peace can be turned into observing discipline and being cautious; the desire for beauty can be turned into a source of creation.
