Fenshui Flows Eastward

"Fen Water Flows East" takes the rise and fall of the Luo family, a century-old vinegar shop in Fencheng, Shanxi, as the main line, telling a family epic from the Republic of China to the new era. When the first-generation shopkeeper Luo Mingyuan opened the first vat of old vinegar on Jingzhe Day, he would not have thought that this sour taste would run through the fate of four generations of the family. The work uses "vinegar" as a taste clue and uses "Jin dialect" to construct an auditory world. Through the intertwining fate of the Luo family and the neighbors, it shows the game between officials and businessmen, the grudges of the family, and the changes of the times. When the last drop of old vinegar pours into the Fen River, what flows is not only the memory of the family, but also the cultural resilience and human brilliance of a nation in the process of modernization.
