Canopy Hunting

When the "Scope" passed through the heliosphere and sent back real images of the outer solar system, the starry sky that humans had looked up to for generations collapsed - there was only an all-devouring absolute darkness in front of the camera, and hundreds of millions of stars were extinguished. Science has proven that the Milky Way we are familiar with is just a carefully projected dome of light, and that the solar system is an island suspended in nothingness. But a deeper fear emerges: the builder of this cage seems to be observing everything about us in some way that transcends cognition. All detection data point to the same conclusion - the role of the barrier is not protection, but camouflage. They are hiding something that exists in the dark depths of the sky, or preventing "them" in the darkness from discovering our only light.
