Fragments of Origin

During the three great changes of the times, mankind was led by the same string of unexplained "fragments". Iron-blooded dictators in the last days use it to suppress dissidents, engineers after overthrowing tyranny use it to awaken AGI, and explorers in the interstellar era follow it to reach the coordinates of the Creator, but only see a dead world. The fragments never give an answer, they only continue to guide civilization towards it. When mankind finally reaches the end, it realizes that the most terrifying question is not "who is the Creator", but - Why did they leave these instructions and disappear without a trace?
