Looking North from the South

The origin of this novel is hidden in an old photo, and even more so in the obsession with words and narrative that "Xiaoyu Xianwen" has always had. I hope to use literature to salvage those memories that have been lost in the torrent of time. This novel is a brand new attempt - to integrate the fragments of family history into the background of the era and weave it into the fabric of literature. "Going to Nanyang" and "Northern Wilderness" are grand narratives in history; for my family, they are the specific and subtle joys and sorrows described by my grandfather - the missed hometown, the dock where we gather together, the unfamiliar "red hair", the cold north, and the feelings of hometown that are deeply rooted in the blood and cannot be erased no matter how far we travel. Now, my grandfather has passed away, but his voice is still in my ears. I use this pen to weave those scattered and warm memory fragments together with the magnificent era in which they lived. This is a work dedicated to all the ancestors who have been tossed and struggled in the torrent of history. Their wanderings and perseverance together constitute the "roots" of our today. The serialization of "Looking North from South Ocean" has begun. I hope these words can allow you and me to touch that not-so-distant past together...
