Awakening of the Abyss

When virtuality becomes reality, the game is survival.

Chen Mo, an ordinary young man, wakes in a Nordic cabin reeking of blood, with no memories and no idea what's going on. To his horror, he's not in his familiar rented apartment, but trapped in an unfamiliar place, strange in style and crawling with danger. Outside the door, a bluestone road disappears into endless black fog. Inside, an axe is spattered with thick, sticky blood. He is on the brink of death, locked in a life-or-death struggle with a terrifying monster shaped like a pig's head.

Just as all hope seems lost, a figure descends like a goddess from heaven. It's none other than Sister Mi from a parallel world, a bold, battle-ready player clad in armor and wielding a long Japanese sword. She saves Chen Mo and leads him through the fog. The view opens up before them: an overwhelmingly dazzling and chaotic cyberpunk metropolis, its neon lights flashing amid a surreal, dazzling spectacle.

Here, Sister Mi gives him the first and most important rule of survival: “Trust no one, including me.”

Chen Mo soon learns that the game, called Abyss, has taken the world by storm. Players can enjoy an unparalleled experience, and the game's “four-dimensional attributes” can even feed back, albeit slightly, into the real world, sparking a global frenzy. But Chen Mo's situation is unique: in the real world, he is a vegetative patient lying in a hospital bed. His consciousness is trapped here completely, with no way to log out. Even more astonishing, as a bug-like existence, he can perceive the game world far more keenly than ordinary people, and can even glimpse its “source code.” His attributes also feed back into reality at a much higher rate than those of ordinary players.
