The Arcane Knight from Waterdeep

[Dungeons & Dragons] [Forgotten Realms] [Faerun]

Chris Vane, a 12th-level Eldritch Knight, was afflicted with the city-destroying curse known as the “Mark of Shadow Devouring” during the decisive battle two years ago. Every spell he casts hastens his death. To keep this secret hidden, he disguises himself as an ordinary guard with connections in Waterdeep, hoping to live a quiet life.

But trouble keeps finding him.

Moving between light and darkness, caught in the turmoil between order and chaos, Chris faces a final choice: embrace the curse and become a creature of shadow, or burn the last of his light for this city before destruction descends?

(My friends and I stopped playing our Dungeons & Dragons campaign many years ago. My character, Chris Vane, was last seen at the Spine of the World, facing off against Arthas. I had some free time, so I decided to write what happens next and give this character a proper ending.)
