Dungeon Invasion: Taking Out Every Protagonist

After an accident, Lu Nian falls into a coma in the real world, becoming a “vegetative patient.” But his consciousness does not fade. Instead, it is swept into a strange world formed by the collective thoughts of humanity: the Realm of Remembered Thoughts.

Here, the dust of history gathers anew, and literary fictions are brought to life. Cao Cao’s schemes, Yue Fei’s grief, Wu Zetian’s empire, Song Jiang’s helplessness… All those remembered or portrayed with great intensity continue to pursue their obsessions and grudges here.

Even stranger, “thoughtscape instances” formed from countless films and television dramas of later generations overlap within this realm. Lu Nian discovers that he can actually “invade” these instances:

On the set of Romance of the Three Kingdoms, he watches Chancellor Zhuge weep as he executes Ma Su, only to see the real Zhao Yun shake his head and sigh nearby.

In a Water Margin tavern, as the story of Ximen Qing and Pan Jinlian unfolds, the embodiment of Wu Song’s obsession clenches his fists downstairs.

In the palace halls of The Palace of Eternal Youth, Lu Nian experiences Princess Taiping’s love and hatred, only to unexpectedly meet the scrutinizing gaze of the real empress, Wu Zetian.

Qin Shi Huang seeks eternal life, Emperor Taizong of Tang asks about the Xuanwu Gate Incident, and Yue Fei seeks to break free of the Fengbo Pavilion’s trap… These towering historical figures and ambitious heroes also travel through the various instances, seeking to gain power or reshape how later generations judge them.

In the real world, Lu Nian can occasionally hear his family calling to him. He knows that the key to waking up lies within the Realm of Remembered Thoughts. He must navigate among legendary figures from across the ages, use his foreknowledge of their stories to take part in and even alter the course of the instances, and acquire powerful “thought energy.”

This is the fantastical journey of a vegetative patient fighting to awaken in the space between history and film, only to become caught up in a great battle between obsessions spanning the ages!
