Xiang Nan's Silence

Fate stripped him of everything. Only when he had nowhere left to turn did he discover that the one path fate had left him was to declare war on fate itself.

On New Year's Eve in 1986, Liu Ze's mother gave her life to give him breath.

When he was fifteen, his father's fall from a scaffold crushed the last support holding up his youth.

During the rainy season of his eighteenth year, his mentally ill uncle sank beneath the river, taking with him the last glimmer of light in their home.

In the summer of 2004, an exam transcript showing a score of just over 400 was his only, and final, connection to the past.

He did not hesitate. He folded it into a one-way ticket south.

Liu Ze thought the script of his life had already been filled with loss. But he did not know that when a person has been stripped of everything, what remains is not called suffering, but freedom!

This is a journey that starts from nothing. It is the story of a resolute figure turning his back on an empty hometown and fighting through the steel torrents of an era to prove he deserves to live as a human being!
