Shadow Path

The air is filled with the cold smell unique to old buildings, mixed with dust and a hint of mildew. The light was pitifully dim, barely able to outline the twisted outline of the stairs, while more shadows squirmed in the corners, swallowing everything into blur and uncertainty.
