I haven't signed a contract for this book yet
A newbie hasn't signed a contract for half a month after writing an article. Please help me find out if I'm on the wrong track! It has been exactly 20 days since I started the article, and I have coded 230,000 words. I have invested in the starting point of the platform name. I have not signed the contract yet, and I have not mentioned the specific problem. I have revised it twice and still have no clue. I am here to ask for help from the seniors who are passing by! First of all, let's briefly talk about my novel: a fantasy anti-magic theme. The protagonist is a monk with dual veins of ice and fire, who leads a team (medical nun + sand fat man + talisman boy) to guard the seal of the snowy area. The villain is a brother and sister who defected from Xuanbing Valley (a cold female demon cultivator in the open + a ghost disguised in the dark). The core conflict is to prevent the demon lord from unsealing the Demonic Abyss Gate, and also lays the foundation for the Xuanbing Valley's destruction of the gate. Possible problems with reviewing it yourself, but I'm not sure if it's right: 1. Is the beginning too "slow"? The first three chapters describe the protagonist group exploring the path in the foggy forest and encountering low-level demonic cultivators. Chapter 4 leads to the first small climax (the blood sacrifice point crisis). Should the villain brother and sister/sealing crisis be brought forward? 2. Is the character not established? The protagonist's "double-pulse advantage" is only reflected in the fighting scenes, and his personality (such as a calm and intelligent person) is not highlighted in daily interactions. On the contrary, the fat man has many scenes but does not promote the main plot. Should the supporting role be cut to give the protagonist more memory points? 3. Is conflict not "brutal" enough? So far, only a few passers-by and villagers have died, and the protagonist group has not been seriously injured, and no key props have been lost. Should the villain take away half of the remaining talisman early, so that cracks appear in the seal, and the sense of urgency is increased? Because this is my first time writing a long novel, I have no experience at all. I don't know if it's a matter of subject matter, rhythm, or the opening hook is not done well. If there is a publisher who has signed a contract with the same subject, or an editor passes by, can you give me some advice? If necessary, I can post the first 3,000 words of the opening chapter, thank you!
