I remember clearly that it was my forty-second birthday. After get off work at night, a person wanders the streets like a wandering spirit. I was thinking about which small store to go to to "relax", and I even remembered that the external screen of the commercial building across the road was playing a video of some kind of nanorobot making a major breakthrough and achieving mass production. Everything was no different than usual, until - the entire night sky was as bright as if it was on fire. A ray of light - thick and bright, not something that should exist in the human world at all - swept across the ground so fast that there was no time to blink. It was eerily quiet, but it carried an unquestionable will to destroy. And the last thing I saw was that everything touched by the light... Including myself, turned into ashes in an instant. I can't even feel the pain, it's like it never existed.
