Legend of Jianghu

The story begins with Jinling City in the third year of the Zhenming Dynasty. At that time, the Sui army was approaching and war was raging. The young Chen Yuan witnessed the collapse of the imperial city and the departure of people around him. His father, the emperor, and his mother failed to accompany him to fly kites and buy candy cakes as promised. Instead, they were caught in the flames of war, and their life or death was uncertain. In order to protect Chen Yuan, Li Dequan, the chief chamberlain supervisor, risked his own life to lure away the Sui soldiers, and was eventually killed by the Sui soldiers' spears.
