Charter a Car

On the 30th of the twelfth lunar month, taxi driver Li Gensheng gave up going home in order to collect the down payment for a house that brought his parents into the city. He was busy taking orders on the streets with a strong New Year atmosphere. On the way, he hung up the phone from his mother urging him to go home. Soon, he received a chartered car order from fellow villager Wang Dayong and drove to the county bus station to pick him up.​ While driving, Wang Dayong asked Li Gensheng to stop at a grocery store to buy something, and then went to the ancestral gravesite of the village queen. In front of the grave, Wang Dayong recounted the past to his mother, mentioning that he was ignorant and wasted the butter bread that his mother was reluctant to eat, and later felt guilty that he was neglecting to accompany his mother because of her late stage lung cancer. These words deeply touched Li Gensheng.​ Later, Li Gensheng learned that Wang Dayong chartered the car to introduce him to the logistics work of the engineering team. When the car drove to the entrance of the village, he saw his waiting mother and finally returned home. Seeing his parents busy and eating the food at home, Li Gensheng truly felt the warmth of his family and understood that although he could not make enough money, his parents could not afford to wait.
