The Story of a Hammer

In the late 1960s, in Chongren County, eastern Jiangxi, Han Qiusheng took eighteen rusty hammers and led seventeen workers to knock out the first oil-immersed transformer in a dilapidated temple, igniting the fire of "Eighteen Hammers to Create a New World". In the following more than half a century, from the difficult development of the motor factory, to the team building of factories by talented people returning home in the 1990s, to the current industrial upgrading of smart manufacturing and green production, three generations of Chongren people have struggled in the power transmission and transformation industry despite the pressure of capital shortages, technical bottlenecks, and market competition. The novel takes the struggle of three generations of the Han, Yang, and Jiang families as the main line, interspersed with the joys and sorrows of ordinary people such as technicians, salesmen, and returning entrepreneurs. In the alternation between workshops and smart workshops, it describes the tenacity and innovation of China's manufacturing, and describes the struggles, perseverance, and dreams of small people in the wave of the times, reflecting the most vivid human fireworks behind the rise of China's industry.
