Four Thousand Years of Prehistoric Times

What we have been studying is the five thousand years of Chinese history, even what Qin Shihuang studied. However, in this long history, a full four thousand years seemed to have disappeared from people's sight. What happened in the missing four thousand years? In 2070 BC, the Xia Dynasty was officially established. But even here, it only has a history of four thousand years. In the north of Wudi and south of Yangcheng Lake, there is a place called Weiting. According to legend, this place was once a place where Dongyi people stayed, so it was called Yiting. Next to Yiting, there is a mountain called Cao Xie Mountain. Every day, the hard-working villagers pass by this mountain, but they don't know that this nameless hillside that has accompanied their ancestors for generations actually hides an amazing history. After carbon 14 testing, we discovered that this Cao Xie Mountain actually retains traces of the life of the Cao Xie Mountain people dating back 5,000 years (that is, 3,000 BC). This means that in that distant era, there were once human habitations and activities here. Thirty kilometers further west, hot weather caused the water level of Taihu Lake to drop, exposing caves in the riverbed of Sanshan Island. In these caves we found thousands of stone scrapers. After testing, these stone tools belong to the late Paleolithic and early Neolithic ages more than 10,000 years ago (that is, 8000 BC), and are traces of the life of the Sanshan people. During this short distance of 30 kilometers, the Sanshan people had traveled a full four thousand years!
