Bowing Low as I Enter the Game

In her senior year of college, before even graduating, Yu Xingge is admitted early to Hongjiang Law Firm, becoming its youngest divorce lawyer. On her first day, she meets Gu Lezhi in the managing partner’s office, an eminent criminal lawyer twelve years her senior. He is the goal she has been quietly working toward for twelve years. While handling sixteen divorce cases, she develops a distinctive approach: by analyzing each client’s weaknesses, she predicts the fatal flaws the opposing party will reveal during the case. From sham divorces that conceal affairs to the third party who haunts a marriage like a shadow, seemingly ordinary divorce files conceal countless keys to unlocking the dark chambers of human nature. When the details of the seventeenth client land on her desk, Gu Lezhi’s unanswered calls pile up in her call history. She opens her pocket notebook to its yellowed first page and finally takes the last step toward entering the fray herself: setting a trap and inviting him in.
