My Fiancée Changed the Funeral Eulogy into a Love Poem in a Foreign Language

My fiancée, Liu Yun, was a doctoral student specializing in a rare language. She used it in everyday life and rarely spoke Mandarin. To understand her better, I secretly taught myself the language while away on a year-long business trip. When I came home to prepare for my younger sister's funeral, I heard her having a voice call with her ex-boyfriend in that language. “Let's celebrate the fifth anniversary of when we met at the funeral. We'll change the eulogy into a love poem. How thrilling.” “It's a secret code just for the two of us. What would those fools know?” A chill swept over me. Though I already knew, I pretended not to and asked what she was talking about. She translated impatiently. “Oh, I was discussing the funeral arrangements with the officiant.”
