The Sweet and Soft Bride Brought in to Bring Good Fortune, and the Cold-Faced Minister Who Coaxes Her Every Night

Su Xinyu was engaged to Lu Liulang, but after someone schemed against her, she became the bride brought in to bring good fortune to Lu Wulang, a dying man.

Lu Wulang, Lu Chengxu, was breathtakingly beautiful, yet had a reputation for being a murderous, sinister, and violent man.

Su Xinyu was afraid of him.

As fate would have it, they had a serious grudge between them. When they were children, their elders had tried to match the two of them, but she chose his cousin, Lu Liulang.

That was how their feud began.

To avoid being buried alive with him, she won his heart and kept him stable, lest he get so angry that his poison killed him, all while looking for a chance to escape.

-

Lu Chengxu got himself a bride brought in to bring good fortune.

She was so delicate that a little bump or scrape would bring tears to her eyes. She inexplicably made him tense all over, and she even tried to run away. He really couldn’t stand her.

Worse still, ever since he married her, he often dreamed of her pale ankle with a red cord tied around it, a golden bell dangling from the cord, chiming whenever she moved.

The sound left him changing his bed sheets so often that it was infuriating.

-

He told her coldly that as long as she behaved herself, he would give her the respect and protection she was entitled to.

As for love, that was out of the question.

Su Xinyu agreed.

Just what she wanted: a courteous marriage, each minding their own business.

Until one day, a friend returned to the capital from his travels to visit him. He happened to meet her and immediately asked, “This young lady is lovely. How about you marry her to me?”

Lu Chengxu’s already cool expression turned utterly icy. “She’s my wife.”

After that,

When closing the door, he pinned her against it and said he was dizzy and couldn’t stand.

When bathing, he pulled her into the water and said his legs were weak and he needed support.

When getting up, he pressed her onto the bed and said the poison had left him too weak to move.

Later on,

“Wife, tie on the bell. Your husband wants to hear it ring.”
