You Asked Me to Write the Heavenly Dao, So I Wrote Kill, Kill, Kill, Kill, Kill, Kill, Kill

At a poetry competition, the contestants were asked to write a poem or lyric inspired by the keyword “Heaven’s Way.” Seeing everyone else penning empty verses just to affect an air of refinement, Xu Ning took up his brush and wrote:

“Heaven gives all things to nourish mankind, yet mankind repays it with no good deed. Kill! Kill! Kill! Kill! Kill! Kill! Kill!”

On monks:

“I slaughtered a million soldiers south of the Yangtze,

My sword at my waist still reeking of blood.

The old monk knows not the heroes,

He just keeps asking their names.”

On chrysanthemums:

“When autumn comes on the eighth day of the ninth month,

Once my flowers bloom, all others will perish!”

The judges and audience were stunned. Everyone else wrote about love and romance, scenery and beautiful women. How did your style take such a wild turn!!!!!
