My Daughter Died on the Birthday of My Wife's First Love

The day my daughter was admitted to the intensive care unit with a high fever, Jiang Rou was celebrating her first love's birthday. I called her countless times, and she rejected every call. Only in the final moments before our daughter died did she finally answer. But it was Jiang Rou's first love on the other end. “She's taking a shower. Call again tomorrow.” We met again at our daughter's funeral, where Jiang Rou knelt in the dirt and begged me to forgive her. She said we'd have more children someday. But Jiang Rou, there is no someday for us.
