Were there any simplified Chinese characters in the Song Dynasty? Yes. But the official mainly uses traditional Chinese characters. The printing technology of the Song Dynasty experienced tremendous development, which promoted the further expansion of the use of simplified characters. In the Song Dynasty, simplified Chinese characters were mainly used on inscriptions on stele and books printed on woodblocks. Although simplified characters have appeared and been used in the Song Dynasty, they did not become official official fonts, but became popular among the people. Official documents and important documents are still written in traditional Chinese characters to maintain formality and authority. This book collects 6,240 simplified characters used in 12 kinds of folk engravings during the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, including the "Biography of Ancient Women" published in the Song Dynasty 349, including "The Tripitaka of the Tang Dynasty", 179 "Popular Novels in Beijing"; 963 "Thirty Kinds of Ancient and Modern Zaju" published in the Yuan Dynasty; 385 "Quan Xiang's Chronicles of the Three Kingdoms"; 628 pieces of "The Legend of Taiping Yuefu"; 397 pieces of "Jiaohong Ji" published in the Ming Dynasty, 304 pieces of "The Story of Xue Rengui's Cross-sea Conquest of the East by White Robe", 374 pieces of "The Story of Yue Fei's Possession of the East Window"; "Mulian Ji Tanci" published in the Qing Dynasty (remnant) 852, including 470 in "The Preface and Back of the Mei Qishu of the Jin Ping" and 739 in "Lingnan Yishi". Among them, "Bao", "Jin", "Li", "Sheng", "Double", "Wan", and "Yu" are reappeared in each volume, "Zhi" and "Wen" are reappeared in 11 volumes, "Ting" and "Jiu" are reappeared in 10 volumes, and "Ge" and "Lu" are reappeared in 9 volumes. These 6240 simplified characters combined with traditional Chinese characters are 1604 characters. On average, each traditional Chinese character has 3.9 Different simplified characters. The same characters as today's "Simplified Character List" include: Shi, Bao, Li, Sheng, Hui, Lian, Huai, Mix, Luo, Ting, Wan, Zhuang, Meng, Yang, Although, Yi, Feng, Yi, Luan, Wrinkle, Taiwan, Ban, Zhan, Gui, Party, Ci, Duan, etc. More than 330 characters.
