A Secret Crush, Heartbeat by Heartbeat

Yin Duo was switched at birth. In the early spring of the year she turned sixteen, she left the orphanage alone and went to the city where her birth parents lived. She never expected to meet the man who would save her for the rest of her life. His name was Sui Chunsheng, a lovely name. Sometimes he painted on the second-floor balcony while watching her grow things, but he never spoke to anyone. He treated her differently from everyone else. Her deskmate said, “You can tell he must have been the darling of the heavens. Nothing will come of liking someone like him.” Yin Duo could only force a nonchalant smile, though deep down she was terribly troubled. Once a secret crush catches fire, it cannot be extinguished. She had never asked for his permission, and she had no idea where she stood. That spring, the man looked gentle and dazzling, but inside he was as still and cold as dead water. He disliked the world. He had no idea that the young girl he sponsored had quietly come to live near him, thinking every day about how to be good to him while daring not to let him find out. But a secret admirer’s gaze is too obvious. Sooner or later, it will be noticed. Yin Duo remembered that day. The man met her eyes, calm and gentle, smiling casually as he asked several devastating questions. “Why did you secretly take pictures of me?” “I was recording my life!” “Am I your life?” “Didn’t your mother tell you I was taking you to school today?” “Why you?” “Because I heard you really like me.” … No one could resist gentle Sui Chunsheng. That spring, whenever he came closer, the heart-rate monitor went wild.
