A Distant, Forgotten Dream

[Short story + realistic fantasy + romance + deceased narrator's point of view + memories + realism + tragedy + grounded style]

I once plunged headlong into the whirlpool of love for her, charging forward without hesitation.

Yet fate's cruel mockery led me to a farewell from which there was no return.

Death did not take everything from me. Instead, it left me wandering in a sea of memories.

My soul drifts through the places where I once left my mark. Every step is a call to the past.

At the border between dreams and reality, I look back on a winding journey. Each scene is etched deep in my heart.

The dreams I once held, the love that was never returned, the old friends of days gone by, the family I cannot bear to leave: all have become a past I can no longer reach.
