Spider-Man Falling from the Sky

A rare century's worth of thunderstorms in New York brings a Spider-Man to Brooklyn in Universe 42.

As a girl in a white hood tumbles in terror from a rift in the sky above the Williamsburg Savings Bank Tower, the Prowler takes his hand off the lightning rod and pretends he saw nothing.

A strand of webbing catches the Prowler as he silently slips away.

Gwen hangs upside down from the web she spun, the eye lenses of her mask widening dramatically. “Miles?”

“Why is it you?”

Gwen narrows her eyes. “You know me?”

The Prowler reaches out and snaps the webbing. “I hate you.”

In a universe without Spider-Man to protect it, a Spider-Man once appeared briefly. But the Prowler says this world doesn't need her.

The pride and prejudice of Prowler Miles and Spider-Gwen.

1. The two protagonists are Spider-Gwen and Prowler Miles (E-42). The story focuses on the plot, with a relationship that's more than friendship but not quite romance.

This story also preserves the feelings between Spider-Man Miles (E-1610) and Gwen from Across the Spider-Verse, which go beyond friendship. Their relationships may be easier to understand if you read them as friendship. Essentially, it's two Mileses and one Gwen, more than friends but not quite lovers, though Miles-1610 does not appear directly in this story.

2. Original setting: The characters' relationships and personalities are based on Across the Spider-Verse, but the timeline is set after the Spider-Society crisis has been resolved and everyone has returned to their own universe. They don't have their watches. Miles-42 has only met Miles-1610.
