Great Ming: The Critical Censor Leaves Zhu Yuanzhang Speechless

In the fifteenth year of Hongwu, Shen You transmigrates into the role of a low-ranking censor in the court’s Censorate, only to face jealousy and ostracism because of his talent. Fortunately, he awakens the System for Censors of Social Criticism. By exposing the dark side of the official world and ordinary society, he can earn all kinds of rewards. Thus, he writes “Jin Yunu Beats the Heartless Lover with a Club,” exposing how the righteous are often butchered, while scholars are so often the ones who betray them. Then comes “Fan Jin Passes the Imperial Examination,” laying bare how scholars keep their heads buried in books, ignorant of the common people’s suffering. And “A Madman’s Diary,” exposing the deepest cruelty of this world. “I opened a history book and found no dates in it. Every crooked line on every page was filled with the words ‘benevolence and morality.’ I couldn’t sleep, so I studied it closely for half the night before I finally read between the lines.” “The whole book was written with two words: ‘Eating people!’” Shen You: I am the Ming dynasty’s censor of social criticism!
