A Willowy Waist, A Tough Match

On the day he returned to the country, Gu Shanghuai went to the film and television department of Shangyan Group. Standing at the door, he saw his “gentle and generous” ex-wife with one hand on her hip, slamming the table and dressing down the department head until he looked like a scolded schoolboy. He remembered how soft that waist was. Not long afterward, he heard this “considerate and gracious” ex-wife on a livestream, gleefully dancing on his grave. After they remarried, a friend quietly asked him, “You fell into the same trap twice. Is it really her or no one?” Gu Shanghuai: “She's the best partner I've ever had.” Later, at the launch of her new book, a reporter asked, “Mrs. Gu, is the love story in your book inspired by you and Mr. Gu?” Yue Yanshu smiled faintly. “Mr. Gu and I are merely business partners.” At a distance, Gu Shanghuai met her gaze. What lay behind it was impossible to discern. His friend mocked him. “Certainly the best business partners.” Gu Shanghuai replied slowly, “Soft waist, hard to handle.”
