Showbiz: From Washed-Up Child Star to Century’s Greatest Actor

This world is very different from Earth. It seems that many famous singers, actors, directors, composers, and screenwriters from the modern era have all been wiped out. Yet the two worlds also have plenty in common. A singer on the national team looks like Brigitte Lin, her adoptive father is the spitting image of Uncle Tat, and a social media influencer who resembles Law Kar-ying is shouting “Aoli Gei” on the phone someone hands over. That’s how Zhou Xinchen, the protagonist, who bears more than a passing resemblance to Stephen Chow, ends up rear-ending the policewoman Wang Zuxian... When classic comedies, action movies, acclaimed films, and music from Earth appear in this world, new life flows into the stagnant waters of Chinese entertainment, rushing toward the sea and leaving behind a truth no one can deny: One award-winning actor every year, a Zhou Xinchen once in a century. The story begins when Zhou Xinchen, formerly one of the “Three Little Ones” whose looks have “fallen apart,” decides to make a comeback... (The characters in this book are not based on real people. Any resemblance is purely coincidental.)
