The Carefree Prince-Consort

Gu Beichuan transmigrated to the Great Qian Dynasty and was born into a wealthy family. But because he was idle and spoiled, his father, Gu Jun, flew into a rage and sent him to Huainan to run a failing tavern. Who could have guessed that, with the help of his modern knowledge and experience, Gu Beichuan would thrive in Huainan and keep expanding his business?

Gu Jun had only meant to send his son to Huainan to learn a lesson and suffer for a couple of years. Once he had grown more capable, he could come home and inherit the family business. But then...

“Son, stay out of trouble in Huainan. I’ll talk your stepmother into letting you come home and inherit the family business.”

“Son, your younger brother has already passed the imperial examinations and become a Presented Scholar. He won’t compete with you for the family business anymore. Come home soon.”

“Son, our family business keeps growing, but your father is old and can’t keep up. I’m afraid I won’t be able to hold on to our fortune. Please come home and inherit the family business soon.”

Faced with his father’s constant pleas, Gu Beichuan, now Huainan’s richest man, a prince consort after marrying a commandery princess, and the recipient of boundless imperial favor, fell silent for a moment before replying helplessly, “Father, why don’t you and Stepmother have another child?”
