The Empire Era: The Ming Dynasty Inspectorate

Li Mu had been enjoying the perks of modern life when the potent aftereffects of two bottles of strong Wusu beer sent him to sleep. He woke up in the Ming dynasty as a low-ranking ninth-grade inspector in a small Patrol and Inspection Office.

The Patrol and Inspection Office was responsible for catching thieves, investigating wrongdoing, fighting crime, and keeping the peace in its jurisdiction.

But history had already reached the sixteenth year of the Chongzhen reign. The great ship of the Ming dynasty was riddled with holes and on the verge of sinking at any moment.

Rebel bands rampaged within the borders, while the Jianzhou Jurchens eyed the empire from without. Thieves were everywhere, human lives were worth no more than grass, and no one knew if they would survive the day.

Looking at the desolate, weed-choked courtyard of the dilapidated office, Li Mu felt overwhelmed with sorrow. He could only hope it was all a dream.

“System has detected that this building meets the requirements for the Age of Empires system. Loading Town Center functions...”

Moments later, six strapping men rushed into the courtyard and dropped to one knee. “At your command, sir!”

His sorrow vanished in an instant. Li Mu raised his arm and cried, “Follow me as we rebuild the Patrol and Inspection Office, crush the bandits and the invaders, and bring peace and justice back to the land!”

“Aye!”
