Strings Intertwined

Tang Xiaoyu is an influencer lawyer who knows how to command an audience. She is dedicated to using the law to protect craftspeople like her father.

Committed to preserving and promoting Chinese culture, she and her father resist the huge profits of assembly-line production, insisting on traditional handcraft. Their silk strings have more soul than machine-made steel strings, giving every performance a rich, distinctive character.

An older generation and a younger one, united by a craftsman's relentless pursuit of perfection in creating world-class instruments, work hard to overcome obstacles and discard outdated practices. They press on toward their goal of using new materials to craft instruments of the highest caliber. In the end, they take the Tang family's instruments beyond China's borders and onto the world stage, helping more and more people abroad discover Chinese culture and the Chinese spirit of striving against all odds.
