A Fleeting Yearning

One is a master thief, an apostate of the orthodox sects, a fool who follows the straight path despite a thousand other roads. The other is a marquis’s son, peerlessly elegant, a reckless and cold-hearted devil bound by no one. One scroll depicting mountains and rivers, one deal in the jianghu, a thousand gold pieces in payment, a journey of ten thousand miles, songs on the qin in harmony. One dream of the sal trees, one debt from a past life, a trial of the heart, a summons from the Yellow Springs, life and death shared. That year, she knelt alone before an empty mountain. Who could have imagined that ten years later, someone would emerge from nowhere and shake the jianghu? If longing is but an inch, who can measure the depths of feeling in a song?
