But Liu Anbang seized a sliver of hope. Using the power of thunder, he sacrificed his physical body and transformed the soul within him into a pure-yang battle spirit. In front of all the gods, he left them with one declaration: “I’ll be back.” Then he opened the road to the Yellow Springs, stepped into the underworld, and vanished.
