The Mad Tyrant Takes His Child and Steals His Wife

[Love by force + the pursuit of a wife after a devastating breakup] Xia Yu remembers Lu Huaiqin once promising they would stay together through thick and thin. But in the blink of an eye, this man was willing to scheme against her and kill her without hesitation for the sake of power. They meet again three years later. He is the emperor, above all others; she is an ordinary woman with no power or influence. She thought they were destined to go their separate ways, but he dragged her through deep snow and backed her into a corner, only to turn around and speak tenderly to her. He said, “A-Tiao, be a little more obedient. If you behave a little better, I’ll be very good to you.” He kissed her, coaxed her softly, and asked if she would enter the palace with him. Xia Yu, naturally, refused. Back then, she had been so dazzled by his looks that she let him scheme her out of everything she had. Now that they had met again, she was determined to have nothing more to do with him. -- The first time Xia Yu escaped the capital, Lu Huaiqin caught her. He merely threatened to make her wish she were dead, but she chose to take her own life. “What is wrong with you?!” The proud emperor had never before berated anyone so unrestrainedly. At that moment, Lu Huaiqin admitted that he could not live without Xia Yu. Though she had tried to escape several times and he had repeatedly wanted her dead, he still could not bring himself to lay a hand on her. -- He said he could give her snow in June and fireflies in winter, but he would never let her leave. When Xia Yu tried to leave the palace, he spoke in an eerie voice: “If you dare run, I’ll drag you to hell and make you wish you were dead.” -- Content warning: They are each other’s first, but this is not a feel-good story. It’s also very melodramatic.
