New Year’s Eve: Yuanji

"Mother-in-law, mother-in-law, what does this word mean? It looks like the eyes of a monster. It's so scary." Bin Po squinted her old eyes for a long time and still couldn't see clearly. She simply took the piece of tortoise shell and groped carefully for a long time, and then smiled and replied: "Aqi. This word Pronounced "Xi", it takes the shape of the moon and represents the night. Of course, it is also the name of a fierce beast. On the night at the end of every year, it will..." Bin Po was the last high priest of the village. She was highly respected by the villagers because she successfully raised two wild boars and tamed their wildness. Priests cannot marry during their lifetime. Fortunately, God showed mercy and allowed her to pick up an abandoned baby for comfort in her later years. At this age, all the children in the village like to hunt for fish and birds, but A Qi is particularly interested in the turtle shells in Bin Po's house. It just so happened that Bin Po was also a good teacher, and she was full of stories, waiting for a close friend. One old and one young, so they get along very harmoniously. "Bin Po regarded the child as a treasure, how could she sacrifice A Qi?" "Don't sacrifice A Qi? Then feed your granddaughter to the beast this year!" A dozen elderly villagers crowded into the current priest's hut and had a quarrel, discussing whose child should be sacrificed to the Xi beast this year. Aqi is an outsider after all, and Bin Po has abdicated her position in favor of someone more worthy, and has no real power. Everyone in the thatched cottage quickly reached an agreement and sent some young and strong men to pick up the people. When Binpo heard about the decision to sacrifice, she naturally refused and risked her life to protect little Aqi. Aqi was afraid that Binpo would be accidentally injured by the crowd, so he took the initiative to stand up, "Everyone, please stop arguing! I knew this day would come sooner or later. But I never understood why you would rather donate your own bones and blood every year instead of working together to get rid of the demon?" "What do you know, a kid? Xi Beast is so ferocious, even if we gather all the young men in the village, we can't subdue him." Aqishen He was calm and obviously had a countermeasure, "It should be possible if we set up traps in advance." "How is it possible? The route that the Xi Beast appears every year is different. Moreover, it is extremely vigilant and never accepts the sacrifice location we choose. It just shows up on time and waits for us to offer sacrifices." "I have checked the records of the Xi Beast's occurrences in the past sixty years, and its activity track is actually regular!", The words were surprising. Only Binpo has a record of more than sixty years. Only successive priests can interpret it. After listening to A Qi's careful explanation, someone finally became shaken. "Sacrifice every year is not a problem! If we sacrifice A Qi this year, we will have to argue about it again next year.", A strong man shouted. He has been married for six years and has finally found a fat boy. Thinking that he will be worried about this every year in the future, he might as well solve the problem ruthlessly. "Try it! It's just a trap, and the Xi beast may not step on it. We can use it as a record.", Another person agreed. Aqi was very generous and readily agreed: "Okay! If Xi Beast does not step into the trap, I will sacrifice myself voluntarily." Words are powerful, and Bin Po's detailed records over the past decades are priceless treasures. The careful A Qi's calculation was indeed correct. When the warriors holding spears and wooden shields and carrying the heads of Xi beasts returned in triumph. Binpo personally selected a piece of tortoise shell and engraved the following words: Jiazi New Year's Eve, Yuanji. Yuan, Rushou. Ji is like a spear or a shield. Only by relying on your own strength to defend your homeland can you gain eternal good fortune. Only by writing its own history with its own words, can civilization endure like a river of stars. Attachment: The original text of Daqi Benji Bin Po, an ancient Bin person. He tasted like a priest, cracked a tortoise and turned into a prophecy, worked on his own affairs with heaven, and never got married. When I was older, I got an abandoned baby by chance and took it as my fate. The baby's name is Qi, which is different. All the children are like fish and birds, but they are good at prophecies and exegesis. Pojiazhi. There is a ferocious beast called Xixi. It often lies down and comes out at night at the end of the year. It likes to eat people. And when it goes out, corpses clog the path and limbs cover the house. There was a villager who was spared the sacrifice of a child, so he was excused. Bin people want to give it away, but Po Buddha can stop it. Tong Qi said: You people would rather give up your flesh and blood than dare to fight against evil? The villagers were shocked: Zhuzi is ignorant and stubborn, and a poor village is invincible. Qi said: That's enough. The villagers sneered at him: He was so stupid. The traces of sunset are impermanent, and things change with each passing year. How can you be so cunning and wait without getting involved? Qi said: I understand the prophecy of the year, all Jiazi. The night is not impermanent, there are traces to follow. The healthy people in the village are willing to try it out. Qi Yinuo said: If it is not enough, I will feed it myself. Sui agreed, and the result came true. The villagers competed with each other with spears, and then returned with their heads chopped off. The mother-in-law's record of choosing a spirit turtle says: Jiazi New Year's Eve is auspicious. Binning is Naixing.
