The Age of Light

Without the Communist Party, there would be no New China.

Without the Communist Party, there would be no reform and opening up.

Without the Communist Party, China would not have prospered and grown strong.

Without the Communist Party, the Chinese nation would not achieve its great rejuvenation.

Originally titled The Age of the Party, this short story was written to mark the centenary. Looking back on the past, I was moved to write it and indulge in a dream.

This is a work of fiction. It tells the story of a family whose life gradually improves during the era of reform and opening up, helping more people achieve prosperity together.

The main characters are still Shan Qi and Shan Dai. Their family consists of their grandfather Shan Jianguo, grandmother Zhou Honghua, eldest aunt Shan Aijun, father Shan Aiguo, mother Shui Lantian, and youngest aunt Shan Aihua.

All characters and events in this book are fictional. Any resemblance to actual people or events is purely coincidental.

This book is indeed complete. Twenty years later, Shan Qi happens to see her again. The story of the protagonist’s family can wait for another hundred years.
