The Cthulhu Revival: Sign-In to Claim an Ancient God

One day, Ai Shouyi received a strange text message. “Hello, I’m Cthulhu. My seal is weakening, and I need 100 yuan in startup funds to help me rise from R’lyeh and return to the world. Send me 100 yuan, and I’ll make you the strongest investigator!” Ai Shouyi typed in three Arabic numerals and the Chinese character for “yuan,” then hit send. And then Cthulhu really did awaken. Fortunately, Ai Shouyi got hold of a strange app. It told him he could claim an Old One just by checking in. And so… [Sign-in at R’lyeh successful! Acquired an Old One’s right eye] [Sign-in in the Dreamlands successful! Acquired an Old One’s left hand] [Sign-in at the Pleiades successful! Acquired an Old One’s XX] … Years later, Ai Shouyi looked at all the Old One parts covering his body: two eyes, two hands, two legs, XX… He asked, baffled, “I was planning to become the strongest investigator. How did I somehow end up becoming an Old One instead?” P.S. Readers unfamiliar with the Cthulhu Mythos can still enjoy the story. It won’t affect your reading.
