Chen Jiayin was also successfully admitted to the Department of Architecture of Tongji under Xia Yusheng's guidance. The two established a relationship. When it broke through the dilemma of high quotations and no loans for the construction of cross-river bridges abroad and built the Nanpu Bridge by itself, Xia Yusheng also won the opportunity to join the design and construction project of the cross-river bridge, fulfilling his fairy tale promise of marrying the Princess of Pudong. On January 2, 1991, the Nanpu Bridge was completed; on December 1 of the same year, the Nanpu Bridge was officially opened to traffic as the first bridge across the Huangpu River in Shanghai.
