The Divine Court Falls

After transmigrating into the body of a border count, with a continent where the Divine Court has fallen, a world overrun by witches, and a desolate, empty domain before him, what should be his first priority?

An Li thinks it should be recruiting knights.

“Count, three more knights have come to apply. Here are their resumes,” the maid said.

“Oh?” An Li grew interested and took the so-called knight resumes. One line immediately caught his eye.

“Silver Moon Knight of Rosslono, Beckman, who once killed a bear with his bare hands.

Lunar Goddess pact-bearer, contracted spirit: Moonlight.”

“Looks like a fine knight. With Moonlight as his contracted spirit, his abilities must be outstanding,” An Li commented.

“My lord, you misunderstand,” the maid said, dousing An Li’s enthusiasm. “Knights whose contracted spirit is Moonlight are usually tasked with providing illumination at night. They’re commonly known as Lantern Knights.”

“I see.” An Li looked at the next knight’s resume. “Wind God pact-bearer, contracted spirit: North Wind.”

“This one should be good, right? A wind-affinity knight must be incredibly fast, shouldn’t he?”

“Knights with North Wind as their contracted spirit are indeed very rare, but most are used to provide relief from the summer heat. That’s why they’re also called...” The maid paused. “Fan Knights.”

So he was basically just there to fan people. An Li was a little disappointed as he picked up the final knight’s resume.

“Spring Goddess pact-bearer, contracted spirit: Spring Sprite.”

“This one should be pretty good, right?”

“These knights are called Gardener Knights.”

An Li was sure something had gone wrong.
