The facing-heaven pepper, also known as the five-colored pepper, blooms each year from May to July. Its flowers are white, while its peppers come in five colors: yellow, green, white, red, and purple. Because the fruits grow in clusters at the ends of the branches and point toward the sky, it is called the facing-heaven pepper.
