But no immortal's trial ever caused as great a stir as that of the High God Xize. Heaven and earth mourned her fate, and a drought lasted three years. She died in that year of drought. Unable to pray for rain, the people finally bound her to the sacrificial altar. A single azure pearl broke down the barrier between immortal and god, binding them together for lifetimes to come.
