I started reading novels sometime in the early 2000s, and my tastes have always been incredibly varied. Back then, we didn’t know what was good or bad. Whatever books other people wrote, we read them. It wasn’t like today, with so many reviewers and so many tiers, or perhaps it’s simply a difference between eras. If you pick up books from back then now, you may find them impossible to finish because you’re no longer used to their style. Modern books wouldn’t have suited readers back then either.
