Yamansu

Yamansu means bitter water in Uyghur. A border town, named after Yamansu, is so small that it can't even hold memories. A mine has been guarded by three generations. The predecessors said that this is their home from now on. An Elaeagnus angustifolia was planted by my grandfather himself that year, and I can still smell the fragrant jujube fragrance through the yellow sand. Finally, I left one day, sighing that no one could accompany me to watch the sunset in the Gobi desert. The wild geese fly south, but the wild geese do not return. Sixty years have passed, but in the blink of an eye, the strong wind has dispersed the yellow sand into smoke, and the flying flowers in spring and summer have disappeared and the catkins fill the sky. Yamansu, Yamansu, I can't see your past clearly, and I can't find your distance. I only hope that when I come back again after many years, I can still find that picturesque memory while holding a glass of wine and smelling the angustifolia flowers!
